ICYMI - Motor Vehicle Crash This Week on Route 22 West and Somerset Street in North Plainfield
NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Acting Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay, and North Plainfield Chief of Police Alan McKay announced an investigation into a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Route 22 West and Somerset Street in the early morning hours of Monday, May 11, 2026, in the Borough of North Plainfield.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Monday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 3:15 a.m., North Plainfield Police Officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 22 West at Somerset Street which occurred when a vehicle traveling south on Somerset Street towards Route 22 West struck the concrete barrier. Upon arrival, North Plainfield Police Officers determined that the driver of the vehicle, an adult female Frankin Township resident, along with the single passenger, an adult male North Plainfield resident, had suffered serious injuries resulting from the crash. Both individuals were transported to local trauma hospitals and are listed in critical condition. Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to investigate along with members of the North Plainfield Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau. The investigation is currently ongoing pending the results of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team’s findings.
