Somerset County Prosecutor NamesNew First Assistant Prosecutor

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald released the following statement:It is a great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Annemarie L. Mueller to serve as the new First Assistant Prosecutor at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. For the last 11 years she has worked tirelessly for the residents of Somerset County, especially seeking justice for the victims of sexual violence.

First Assistant Prosecutor Mueller began her career with this office in October 2011. Prior to joining the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, she was an Associate with Buckley & Theroux, LLC, Princeton, New Jersey. As First Assistant Prosecutor, Ms. Mueller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office and will supervise twenty-four Assistant Prosecutors. 

She assumes her new role with an abundance of experience prosecuting cases. Ms. Mueller has served as Legal Advisor to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, as an attorney in the Trial Unit, and as the Program Manager for the Veterans Diversion Program. Her extensive experience before joining our office included a Judicial Clerkship with the Hon. Paul W. Armstrong, Superior Court of New Jersey, Criminal Part, a legal internship at the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, Juvenile/Domestic Violence Unit, and a summer internship at the Office of the Public Defender in Somerville, New Jersey.First Assistant Prosecutor Mueller is a graduate of Western New England College where she majored in Political Science and minored in Philosophy which high honors Magna Cum Laude. 

First Assistant Prosecutor Mueller is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law. A long-time resident of Somerset County she currently resides in Hunterdon County with her family.Our office, and the residents of Somerset County, are truly fortunate to have Annemarie Mueller as First Assistant Prosecutor. She was selected from a group of very impressive candidates.
