ICYMI: Raritan Borough Police Blotter

Recently, our police department held its annual departmental meeting, which had been delayed by several years due to unforeseen circumstances. Prior to the meeting, our officers attended a Borough of Raritan Council Meeting where Chief Raymond Nolte, Captain Thomas Fisher and Lt. James Raniere accepted our Accreditation Certificate from the New Jersey State Association of Chief's of Police. We are now an accredited agency, which in turn holds us to the highest standards of all policies, procedures and training. Additionally, retired Raritan Borough Police Administrative Assistant Anna Marusiak was presented with an official proclamation by the borough for her years of dedicated service! You will be missed Anna! Lastly, an awards ceremony was held for our officers and over 60 awards were presented: -Various officers were given awards for numerous life-saving actions such as CPR performance and the saving of suicidal persons. -

Numerous officers received awards for the peaceful resolution of an active shooter situation at a residence. Several officers received awards for their investigation efforts leading to the arrest and conviction of a defendant for a double homicide. -Several officers received awards for their investigative efforts leading to the arrest and conviction of a defendant for manslaughter as a result of a motor vehicle accident.-Two officers received awards for their efforts leading to the capture and conviction of an armed defendant whom they chased on foot across four lanes of Route 202. -Several officers received awards after a fleeing suspect crashed into a patrol vehicle and was captured after a foot pursuit. The investigative effort led to a large seizure of cash and narcotics-

One officer received an award for stopping a burglary in progress and apprehending the suspect as he was driving through the borough while off duty. We are proud of all of our officers as they have shown the highest level of commitment to service to the citizens of Raritan Borough. We will proudly continue to serve and protect and build positive relationships with our community.
