Who am I and why am I running for BOE?

I've wanted to run for the board of education for some time but my work schedule never allowed it. I've been a respiratory therapist for 15 years, and volunteered to run the American Lung Association Better Breathers Club at RWJ Somerset for four of those years. After working my heart out through the pandemic in the intensive care unit, I left bedside care and now have a schedule that allows me the time to dedicate to both my family as well as the Board of Education.

After moving to Raritan in 2013, my sons, who are now ages 13 and 14, started school at JFK, moved to Hamilton for the AI program for 2nd-4th grades and then on to Eisenhower. I volunteered as class parent for both of them every year through 6th grade and was involved in the PTO helping with book fairs, plant sales, etc... I sat on the APEX board for AI families, and was involved in the Special Education Alliance. I’m also honored to have gotten positive feedback about my candidacy from many teachers throughout the district. Their confidence in me means so much! Feel free to ask parents and teachers I’ve worked with over the years about me.

My sons have grown up seeing me at their schools, dedicating my time to the district and I’m excited about this next big step. I’ve never been afraid to fight for what was right for my patients, and I will bring that same strength to my job on the board of education.
