The Borough of Somerville is participating in a friendly competition with 13+ towns in Somerset County to see which municipality can collect the most non-perishable food and household items by Friday, May 5. The goal is to help replenish local food pantries. The winning municipality will be determined by weighing all the donations.
Suggested Donations
All food donations must be non-perishable.
- Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Other Thanksgiving Items
- Canned fruit (light syrup or natural juice preferred)
- Canned soups, vegetables & beans (low sodium preferred)
- Tuna fish (prefer packed in water)
- Cereals (less than 12g of sugar per serving preferred)
- Coffee, tea and sips
- Baked beans and other canned vegetables
- Any kind of pasta, rice, macaroni and cheese
- Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and vegetable cooking oil
- Napkins, toilet paper, paper towels and food storage bags
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper, basil, oregano, etc
- Small individual portions of apple sauce, pudding, snacks and juices
