From the BRSD Press-

How they treat each other off the court is how they treat each other on the court.

A tight bond, predicted coach Xavier Brooks, and the players on the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ basketball team, could result in many more victories this winter.

‘’I love this group, they all get along,’’ Coach Brooks revealed. ‘’They are great friends and there is a connection off the court that shows on the court.’’

When asked about their camaraderie, standout players Aubrey Bartolotto, Angela Tremarco and Madison Raub, all answered in unison.

“We love our teammates and we have close bonds,’’ the three starters responded.

Their passion to win together and the experience from last year’s tough go should enable these Bridgewater-Raritan players to erase a 2-22 finish from a season ago.

“We are confident that we are going to have a good season,’’ declared Brooks, who is in his second year as the team’s head coach. ‘’Their confident level has jumped.’’

Coach Brooks pointed out the positives from a year ago.

‘’Their experience will help us be better,’’ he predicted.

They will get their first shot when Bridgewater-Raritan opens the 2023-2024 season at Mount St. Mary Academy on Tuesday, December 14. Game time in Watchung is 7 p.m.

Two days later, Bridgewater-Raritan will hit the road again and play Warren Hills Regional High School on Saturday, December 16. The matinee game in Washington will tip off at 1 p.m.

After a third game to open the season away–the Panthers meet Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington on December 19 at 7 p.m.--Bridgewater-Raritan will be in its home gym on December 21 against Immaculata High School. Game time is 7 p.m.

Up front will be Bartolotto, a senior, who averaged seven points a game last year, and junior Emily Leppert, who took down seven rebounds a game a winter ago.

Tremarco, a junior, is the leader in the backcourt, where she averaged three assists a game last year. She will be joined by Raub,a junior, and sophomore Biran Cacchio. Junior Grace Miller will be the top player coming off the bench.

The players are anxious to delete last year’s showing.

‘’We are looking forward to being in every game this season,’’ Tremarco stated.

“”We will put our heart into every game and show hustle,’’ Bartolotto said.

Raub spoke on what the team is focused on accomplishing.

“Win more games and go in with a positive attitude.’’
