BRIDGEWATER – A ceremony marking the start of construction on the $23 million expansion of career and technical education (CTE) facilities at Somerset County Vocational & Technical Schools (SCVTS) will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 starting at 9:30 AM. The new CTE building will include classrooms and learning labs which will allow for the expansion of existing programs and the creation of new in-demand career and technical educational programs in the district. The construction of a new $3.7 million auxiliary gymnasium will take place concurrently with the CTE building.
Funding for these projects comes from a combination of state funds from the Securing our Children’s Future Bond Act and funds contributed by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners.
The plan for the ceremony includes:
• Color Guard presented by students enrolled in the Law & Public Safety program
• Musical performance by Theater Arts students
• Speeches by Superintendent Robert Presuto, a student representative, and other dignitaries (TBD)
• Groundbreaking
• Awarding of plaques created by students enrolled in the Mechatronics, Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing program
The ceremony should take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will be followed by opportunities for photographs. Afterward, there will be a reception for attendees featuring light fare prepared by SCVTS Culinary Arts students.
