Vaidehi Shah is the champion of the Skyland Conference Girls' Golf Tournament

Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s ace senior golfer, Vaidehi Shah, shot a four-under 68 and emerged as the champion of the Skyland Conference Tournament that was played on Wednesday, May 1, at the Heron Glen Golf Course in Ringoes.

She closed her round with four birdies on the back nine and finished with six birdies overall on the day. Her freshman sister, Yashvi Shah, also came through with a crisp round when she posted a 77 to place sixth overall.

Vaidehi Shah’s commitment and dedication are just two key traits that have elevated her play, which she will continue when she enrolls in the fall at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

“Vaidehi’s accomplishments definitely deserve recognition,” claimed Steve Kline, the Bridgewater-Raritan girls’ golf coach. “No one deserves the Skyland Conference individual crown more than Vaidehi Shah. I can't think of a high school practice, match, team function, or tournament that she has missed in her four years.

Coach Kline continued to applaud his special golfer, who

“She is an elite golfer who has put the junior events on hold during the high school season. Vaidehi is proof that being part of a team matters and the individual results can still come. She is the most loyal and committed student-athlete I have ever come across in over 15 years of coaching multiple sports. She has truly earned this.”

As a team. Bridgewater-Raritan placed second with a score of 339. The Pingry School, considered one of the top teams in all of New Jersey, won the title with a score of 309.

The four golfers who produced the scoring for Bridgewater-Raritan were the Shah sisters, Sania Sawale, who scored a 91, and Simran Agarwala. who posted a 103.

Bridgewater-Raritan will next compete in the Central Jersey state sectional round at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway on Monday, May 6.
