SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – The Somerset County Park Commission is offering free field trips to the Environmental Education Center (EEC), free buses, and free in-school programs to Somerset County schools that support students with disabilities and special needs.

The free programs and services, which include free transportation, were made possible through the Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities (ROID) grant by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Grant funds are limited and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested schools should schedule a program for Fall 2024 as soon as possible.

Through EEC-based programs, students can explore 500 acres of nature at Lord Striling Park and engage in hands-on learning through fields, forests, marshes, and swampy areas. In-school programs also provide an enriching classroom experience through the guidance and expertise of a Naturalist.

All programs support the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
