BRIDGEWATER – One hundred and seventy-three students received their diplomas during the Commencement ceremony held on Thursday, June 20 at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School (SCVTHS). The graduates earned their degrees in eighteen different vocational programs, ranging from Agricultural Science to Welding, as well as from the Academy for Health and Medical Sciences.
After the Posting of the Colors by the Law and Public Safety Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by Theater Arts student William Lawson, Principal Hector Montes welcomed graduates and their guests. Somerset County Commissioner Liaison Douglas Singleterry addressed the graduates on behalf of the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners.
SCVTHS consists of two schools, and student speakers were chosen from each school.
The Salutatorians for the Class of 2024:
· Career and Technical Education - Nathaniel Conti of Somerset Hills (Mechatronics)
· Academy for Health and Medical Sciences - Pallavi Routray of Hillsborough
The Valedictorians for the Class of 2024:
· Career and Technical Education - Megan Lam of Bound Brook (Graphic Communications)
· Academy for Health and Medical Sciences - Arnav Khanna of Hillsborough
Graduates were announced by Teacher Leaders Johanna Scholl and Christopher Miller and diplomas were presented by Mr. Montes. Graduates were congratulated by Superintendent Robert Presuto and Board of Education President Gregory Lalevee. Also present to honor the graduates were Somerset County Board of County Commissioners Deputy Director Sara Sooy and Board of Education members Matthew Loper and Lily Wong.
