NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti announced the arrest of Elijah Nunnally, age 27 of South 3rd Street, Allentown, Pennsylvania in relation to an armed robbery which occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 30, 2023, in North Plainfield, New Jersey.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at approximately 4:50 a.m., officers from the North Plainfield Police Department responded to a gas station located on Route 22 for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, the gas station attendant reported to officers that an unknown male pulled into the gas station and asked the attendant to fill the gas tank. A few minutes later, the man exited his vehicle and pointed a handgun at the attendant demanding money. The attendant turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect warned the attendant not to say anything and then fled the area. Detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident. Prosecutor McDonald stated as a result of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Elijah Nunnally of Allentown, Pennsylvania. On October 5, 2023, charges of 1st degree Armed Robbery, 2nd degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, and 3rd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon were authorized for Elijah Nunnally.
It was determined that Defendant Nunnally was lodged in Lehigh County Jail on an unrelated matter. On May 30, 2024, Defendant Nunnally was extradited from Pennsylvania to New Jersey by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Task Force. Defendant Nunnally was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Somerville, New Jersey where he was processed on charges stemming from the September 30, 2023, armed robbery in North Plainfield. Defendant Nunnally was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in this matter.
