BRIDGEWATER – Members of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office visited the campus of Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) on the first day of classes to distribute backpacks and school supplies to students
The donation of notebooks, pens, pencils, and other items – and a way to carry them - continues a tradition of support and outreach to the SCVTHS community by the Sheriff’s Department. "I believe that Somerset County VoTech is a vital resource for our students and our economy, and am honored to provide School Resource Officers to help our kids stay safe and school supplies so they have what they need to excel," said Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo. "We're proud to be a part of these students' success and making our VoTech the best VoTech in New Jersey."
School staff will distribute the backpacks to students enrolled in the Technical Occupational Preparation for Success (TOPS) and Linkages programs.
Chris Lemongelli, SCVTHS Supervisor of Alternative Education, said of the donation, “Thank you to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office for their generous donation. These backpacks and supplies will be a great help to our students. We appreciate the Sheriff’s Office for their ongoing support of the TOPS program and our entire Vo-Tech community.”
