Lucia Bolle has experienced one memorable sophomore year at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

This highly skilled artist has been honored with numerous awards for her paintings—all in just one year.

Her most recent recognition may be her finest yet.

Lucia was notified the week of March 31 by the Art Administrators of New Jersey (AANJ) that she was the recipient of the 2025 AANJ Visual Art Student Achievement Award. This prestigious honor is the Governor’s Award in Arts Education.

Lucia’s honor in 2025 completed a hat trick for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

Before Lucia received this achievement for 2025, Alexander Lu received the Governor’s Award in 2023 and Sharanya Ram was the recipient in 2024. Each of those two students was a senior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School when honored.

According to the AANJ Executive Board, Lucia’s portfolio was selected from a pool of very talented artists from across New Jersey.

The notification stated:

“Our panel felt that your artwork stood out for its originality, craftsmanship, use of media, and the application of the elements and principles of art."

"In conjunction with this award, you will be presented with a $200 check from our organization in recognition of this honor.”

“Again, congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment. We wish you the very best in all of your future endeavors.”

This year alone, Lucia received notice on March 26 that she was the recipient of two National Medals in the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her work called Hello, World, which received a Gold Medal, and her work titled Sorrow - The Weight Of Water, received a Gold medal as well as the New York Life award, giving her a $2,500 scholarship.

She was also accepted in March into the 2025 National Art Education Association (NAEA) National Art Honor Society (NAHS)/National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) Juried Exhibition.

And her artwork Nostalgia: What Once Was - is on display at the Morris Museum in Morris Township.

“I am excited and very grateful for the art community that we have and the teachers who support us,” Lucia said on April 3, just a few days after she received her most recent elite honor.
