Booker Hosts Academy Send-Off Reception for NJ Service Academy Appointees, Family Members
NEWARK, N.J. – Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) hosted a Send-Off Reception for 13 service academy appointees from across New Jersey and their families. Following the occasion, Booker said:
“Receiving and accepting an appointment to a United States service academy is a great accomplishment, and having the chance to nominate these students for an appointment is one of my most treasured responsibilities. An appointment to a service academy is a testament to these students’ commitment to academic excellence, athletic endeavor, leadership, community service, and to their profound belief in the wellbeing of our nation. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to spend time with these young adults and their families before they embark on this next chapter in their lives. This class of high school graduates represents the best and brightest, and I am certain they will not only represent New Jersey well, but will faithfully serve this country. I look forward to celebrating their future successes and am confident in America’s future knowing that this group of students will soon make up our country’s next generation of military leaders.”
