Art is returning to Bridgewater Commons as it calls artists of all ages to help complete New Jersey’s largest mural at a chalk party filled with music, face paint, bubble shows and — of course — chalk!

For the second year, artists can fill the center’s park grounds across from Uncle Julio’s with their wildest creations and experience the professional chalk drawings of Anthony Cappetto, an internationally recognized 3D/4D street artist who since 2001 has worked in chalk, pastel and paint, creating illusionary murals on pavement, walls or both as one unified artwork. Known for blending traditional drawn and painted artwork with still or animated augmented reality (4D) in compositions, Cappetto’s work in 3D and 4D has been created for corporate, festival, government and international clients globally.

Cappetto’s chalk art concept for this year is still a secret but he shared a clue that it will have an exciting anime theme to delight fans. Young artists between the ages of 6 to 13 can also sign up for exclusive 30-minute chalk workshops with Cappetto by registering at the event. Space is limited.

Select Bridgewater Commons shops and eateries will be joining the festival as well. Pure Green will offer exclusive giveaways and samples, Face Foundrié will treat parents with special offers, while Sephora, Crepes du Nord, Uncle Julio’s Mexican from Scratch and others will extend limited time offers that can be found at www.bridgewatercommons.com.

Bridgewater Commons will supply the chalk. Guests can bring their creative ideas and celebrate with an ’80s kids dance party, colorful face paint, balloon art and an extraordinary bubble art show at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

The schedule will be as follows:

  • Chalk art, music, face paint — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Bubble shows — 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Free workshops with Artist Anthony Cappetto – Aspiring young artists can meet and greet the artist and learn basic techniques of chalk art with free 30-minute sessions. Sessions are limited to 10 children, and registration can be done at the event. No experience is needed — the workshop is ideal for ages 6 to 13.
    • Sessions will take place at 11:30 p.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.
