ICYMI - Arrest in Watchung Shots Fired Investigation
WATCHUNG, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Watchung Borough Chief of Police Scott Anderle announced the arrest of Naseem Eure, age 20, West 4th Street, Plainfield, New Jersey in relation to gun shots fired in the late evening hours of Monday, March 17, 2025, in Watchung.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Watchung Police officers responded to 9-1-1 call reporting gun shots at a business located on Route 22 West. Upon arrival, officers observed evidence of gunshot damage to the building of the business. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene along with detectives from the Watchung Police Department. Investigation revealed that a vehicle approached an individual who was walking on a sidewalk outside the business. The passenger door of the vehicle opened, and a shot was fired. There were other patrons outside of the business at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported because of the shots fired.

As a result of this investigation, Naseem Eure was identified as the passenger of the vehicle. On Monday, June 2, 2025, Naseem Eure was arrested in Plainfield without incident. Defendant Eure was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office where he was processed on 1st degree, Attempted Murder, 2nd degree, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 2nd degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and 3rd degree, Endangering another person. Defendant Eure was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing on this matter.

NOTE: The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
