Somerset County Recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness Month

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — At their meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, observed each April to raise awareness and support for survivors.

The proclamation underscores that sexual violence affects people of all genders, orientations, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds, and that every community has a role in prevention, education, and survivor support.

Staff from Safe+Sound Somerset were present to accept the proclamation. The organization remains a vital resource in the county, providing free and confidential services for children, teens, adults, and families who experience or witness dating, domestic, or sexual violence. Their work includes crisis response, counseling, legal advocacy, emergency housing, and ongoing support to help survivors find safety and healing.
