Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County
For Kathy Memoli, a retired librarian, tutoring is more than books and worksheets—it’s about real-life experiences. When one student needed promotional materials for a cleaning business, she headed to Staples and guided them through the design and printing process. With another, she took a walking tour of downtown Somerville, exploring its history and hidden gems.
So far, Kathy has tutored three students through Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (LVSC) and also steps in to assess new learners as they join the program. Her hands-on approach is helping students build not only their skills, but their confidence in the community.
About: LVSC provides FREE One-to-One and Small Group Tutoring, English Conversation Groups, and U.S. Citizenship Preparation Classes in Somerset County.
