New Round of Opioid Settlements:- 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday 9/17 to hear the Attorney General’s Office discuss the third round of “Opioid Settlements,” and the vital importance for all 262 eligible subdivisions, which include all 21 counties, to sign on to nine settlement agreements: (I) one with the Sackler family, who founded Purdue Pharma LP, and (II) eight secondary manufacturers of opioid products.
Provided all eligible subdivisions sign on to the settlement agreements by the fast-approaching deadlines of September 30th for the Sackler Family and October 8th for the secondary manufacturers, the State of New Jersey stands to gain up to an estimated $145.3 million for critical opioid abatement and remediation uses, the vast majority of which will be split 50/50 between the State and its eligible subdivisions. This workshop is free for all public officials, but you must register by completing the form below and returning it by September 16, 2025 to knolan@njac.org, who will then send you details on how to access the session.
County Administrators Basic Certificate Program: Since 2012, NJAC and the Rutgers Center for Local Government Services have collaborated on the “New Jersey County Administrators Basic Certificate Program” designed to enhance the operational and functional knowledge of county administrators, department heads, professional staff, elected officials, and more. In fact, we’ve even had few businesses register for the program over the years. This two-day basic certificate program covers essential components in the administration of county government, which include management challenges, public procurement, county fiscal affairs, and ethics. Instructed by outstanding professionals in their respective fields, the sessions bring real-life applications and insight to the implementation of daily operations and challenges.
SHI International (SHI) Grant to the NJAC Foundation: Special thanks to the local government team at SHI for awarding the NJAC Foundation a grant of $5,250.00 to the NJAC Foundation for scholarships to county vocational-technical school graduates who plan on continuing their education in New Jersey at a county college or state college or university. All award recipients must plan on pursuing a degree in technology or cyber security. Since 2019, SHI has provided the Foundation grant monies totaling $57,750.00, which has helped over 112 county vocational technical school graduates continue their education at home in the Garden State.
Thank you as always for your time and I look forward to seeing you soon.
