The Raritan Borough Police Department Announces November and December Arrests
Notable arrests from November and the beginning of December:
On November 10, 2025, Sorin Feraru, 43 of Newark, Anton Balaban, 48, of Newark and Constantin Balaban, 27 of Newark, were all charged with Identity Theft, Theft by Deception and Unauthorized Use of a Skimmer Device.
The charges are a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division in which officers were alerted to a skimming device on an ATM machine at the Quick Chek on the Somerville Traffic Circle on March 15, 2025.
On November 11, 2025, at 9:14 p.m., James Gunter, 40, who has no known address, was arrested for Trespassing after officers were called to Raritan’s Own Laundromat on West Somerset Street for a complaint.
Gunter had been previously trespassed from the business by staff. Gunter was released pending a court appearance.
On November 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., James Thompson, 40, of Somerville, was arrested for Obstruction while attempting to walk away from a traffic stop after being pulled over in the parking lot of Grand Wine Liquor Store on Route 206. Thompson was also issued summonses for Driving While Suspended (due to DWI) and No Liability Insurance.
Thompson was released pending a court date.On November 19, 2025, at 2:29 a.m., Nathaniel Coles, 26, of Bridgewater, was arrested for several outstanding warrants following a traffic stop on Route 28. Coles had warrants for his arrest issued by Raritan Borough, Cranford, Elizabeth and Middlesex. Coles was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
On November 20, 2025, a 59-year-old man from Kingston, PA was charged with Domestic Violence Simple Assault following an incident at a residence on Anderson Street. The male was released pending a court appearance.
On November 21, 2025, at 1:47 a.m., Jim Connors, 20, of Centereach, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on First Avenue. Connors was also charged with Underage DWI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Reckless Driving, Failure to Observe a Traffic Control Device and Failure to Maintain a Lane of Travel. An additional passenger in the vehicle was charged with Possessing an Open Container of Alcohol. Connors was released pending a court appearance.
On November 21, 2025, at 9:14 p.m., James Gunter, 40, who has no known address, was arrested for Trespassing and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon after an officer observed him exiting Retro Fitness on Route 206. Gunter had been trespassed from the business on the previous date. While searching Gunter, officers located a makeshift knife. Gunter was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
On November 23, 2025, at 11:57 p.m., Dennis Alicea, 32, of Asbury Park, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 206 at South Bridge Street. Alicea was also charged with Failure to Maintain a Lane, Maintenance of Lamps, Windshield Obstruction, Failure to Inspect, Careless Driving, Reckless Driving and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples. Alicea was released pending a court appearance.
On November 23, 2025, at 2:28 a.m., Hector Amaya-Cindres, 44, of Ledgewood, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop at Route 202/206 and Commons Way. Cindres was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Minor in the Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Maintenance of Lamps, Unsafe Lane Change and Failure to Possess a Registration. Cindres was released pending a court appearance.
On November 23, 2025, at 5:57 p.m., Raritan Patrol Officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree on Route 206 for a dispute. On scene officers became aware that one of the involved persons, Eric Williams, 36, of New Brunswick, had a warrant for his arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. The warrant was issued by Franklin Township (Somerset). Williams was placed under arrest and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to police headquarters to take custody of him.
On November 24, 2025, at 5:28 p.m., Raritan Patrol Officers were dispatched to the Lena Apartment Complex on River Park Drive for an unwanted person. On scene, a property manager advised a male, who had been previously trespassed from the complex, was sitting in a common area. Officers located Odell Warren, 26, of Raritan, and charged him with Trespassing. Warren was released pending a court appearance.
On December 6, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., a patrol officer observed a woman sleeping in the snow at the intersection of West Somerset Street and Doughty Street. While attempting to assist the woman, who was identified as Elise Esposito, 38, of Raritan, officers were provided with a false name by Esposito. Esposito was arrested for Hindering Apprehension and also issued a summons for a borough ordinance violation. Esposito was released pending a court appearance.
On December 6, 2025, at 11:20 a.m., Jamal Hanna, 40, of Raritan, was arrested by officers following a pedestrian stop on Route 202. Officers were aware that Hanna had numerous warrants issued for his arrest. Hanna was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
On December 7, 2025, a 36-year-old Raritan man was arrested for violating the provisions of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order. The male was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
On December 9, 2025, at 3:54 p.m., Johnny Caldarola, 63, of Bridgewater, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on Old York Road. While speaking with Caldarola, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Caldarola was also charged with Reckless Driving, Careless Driving and Failure to Maintain a Lane. Caldarola was released pending a court appearance.
On December 9, 2025, officers took a report from a business owner that a male had slept overnight in his business, Raritan’s Own Laundromat on West Somerset Street. The owner further reported that the male was also seen masturbating while sitting in a common area of the business overnight. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the male as James Gunter, 40, who has no known address. Gunter was later arrested for Trespassing and lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
