Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is starting 2026 with exciting news for local readers and families: the Peapack & Gladstone branch will officially reopen on Monday, January 5 at 10 a.m. following an extensive renovation project.

The transformation was made possible through the generous support and tireless advocacy of the Friends of the Peapack & Gladstone Library, whose commitment ensured the branch remains a vibrant hub for learning, connection, and community life.

Library Director Peter Bromberg stated, “The renovation of the Peapack & Gladstone branch reflects our ongoing commitment to providing welcoming, modern spaces that meet the evolving needs of our communities,” said Peter Bromberg, SCLSNJ Library Director. “We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of the Friends and the collaboration with the Borough, which will allow us to offer enhanced resources and a refreshed environment for all our patrons to explore.”

Carol Lane,  Carol Lane, President of the Friends of the Peapack & Gladstone Library, shared, “Seeing this complete transformation materialize is a rewarding moment for past and present members of our organization. Our guiding principle was Patron First in our design efforts, and we hope those of all ages will enjoy the new welcoming space created throughout. We are grateful to our Borough for its leadership and to our donors for their generous support which made this project possible.”

To mark the occasion, SCLSNJ will host a grand reopening celebration on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the branch.

The event will include:

  • Ceremonial ribbon cutting with local officials and library leadership
  • A lively musical performance by Kurt Gallagher
  • A special presentation of “Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz” by Trilogy Repertory at 1 p.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

Guests are invited to explore the refreshed library throughout the day, including updated seating, improved resource areas, and thoughtfully redesigned spaces that support reading, creativity, and community gathering.
