Seniors Can Build a Healthy Heart and Strengthen Community Ties by Visiting Somerset County Senior Wellness Centers

(For Immediate Release – Somerset County, NJ)The program schedule for all six Somerset County Senior Wellness Centers, which are operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, is available for February 2026. All centers will be closed on February 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents Day.

Somerset County’s multi-purpose senior wellness centers are teeming with free and low-cost opportunities for seniors to strengthen their physical and mental health. February brings residents exciting programming related to heart health, from aerobic chair exercises to heart-strengthening tai chi and yoga sessions. Wellness begins from the inside out, and seniors can celebrate the Valentine’s Day season by participating in a variety of heart-themed art and music classes—from Valentine’s card making to a sweetheart craft workshop and Karaoke Night to Samba dance classes, there is something for everyone.

Those over 60 who need assistance with daily life activities are welcome to attend with a caregiver. Interested residents must call or visit the center to register. Proof of identification, age, and residency are required. Programs are free for registered members unless indicated otherwise.

For anyone aged 60 or older, Somerset County-operated senior wellness centers offer a nutritionally balanced lunch, Monday through Friday, for a suggested donation of $2.50. The cost of lunch for those under 60 is $8.76. Menu choices include a hot meat-based or meatless entr?e or a cold meat-based or meatless boxed lunch. Make lunch reservations prior to 10 a.m. on the previous business day by calling the senior center you wish to attend.
