Somerset County brought together local leaders on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, for a Shared Services Summit designed to strengthen partnerships and expand opportunities for cost‑effective, community‑focused government. Municipal mayors, business administrators, county department heads, and representatives from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs gathered to discuss how shared services can streamline operations, reduce expenses, and improve the delivery of public services across the county.

Commissioner Director Shanel Y. Robinson emphasized the County’s readiness to work hand‑in‑hand with local governments to explore new efficiencies and shared opportunities.

“As your County Commissioner Director, I want to be clear — Somerset County stands ready to support each and every one of our municipalities in exploring every available opportunity to share resources, reduce costs, and most importantly, deliver the highest quality of service to our residents. Today’s meeting is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen those bonds, exchange ideas, and hear directly from the State about the programs and resources available to us,” said Commissioner Director Robinson.

Her remarks underscored the County’s ongoing commitment to collaborative governance and its role as a partner to all 21 municipalities.

Somerset County Shared Services Coordinator Shelly L. Bell, CPM, highlighted the broader value of shared services beyond financial savings.

“Shared services isn’t just about saving dollars — it’s about strengthening partnerships, increasing efficiency, and building a smarter, more connected Somerset County,” Bell said.

The summit provided a platform for municipalities to discuss successful models already in place, identify new areas for collaboration, and hear directly from state officials about available programs and funding opportunities.

The County expressed appreciation to all who attended and contributed to the conversation. The summit reinforced a shared commitment to innovation, cooperation, and delivering high‑quality services to residents across Somerset County.
