Somerset County Aging and DisABILITY Resource Expo is April 25th
(For Immediate Release – Somerset County, NJ): It is estimated that roughly 90% of older adults desire to age in place, but only 10% are prepared to do so. At this year’s Somerset County Aging and DisABILITY Resource Expo, seniors (60 and over), caregivers, and individuals with physical disabilities (18 and over) will be able to explore resources, programs, and services that will help them achieve these much-desired results.
Personal empowerment. Resilience. Independence. Freedom. Aging with dignity and choice. These are the powerful themes that the day’s programs will dive into. Healthy living is more than just maintaining physical health. Mental strength and emotional wellbeing are also needed to overcome the unique challenges that come with aging and physical disabilities. With over 30 vendors, attendees can learn how to navigate the uncertainties of health-related issues, isolation, depression, and much more.
The free expo, hosted by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services (OoADS), at the Senior Wellness Center at Bridgewater on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required and can be completed by calling (908) 704-6346 or by visiting https://webapps.co.somerset.nj.us/humansvs/expopub2026.aspx.
“There are over 64,000 residents who are 65 and older that call Somerset County home,” said Commissioner Elizabeth Graner, liaison to the OoADS. “Somerset County is committed to supporting the wellness and longevity of our growing senior population. This expo connects residents that may need assistance or advice to a robust network of helpful experts, agencies, and organizations to discover healthcare services and other services and programs that may greatly improve their quality of life.”
The expo will feature preventative healthcare screenings, interactive demonstrations, a musical performance, educational discussions, various workshops, and more. Seniors, caregivers, and individuals with physical disabilities can also find help joining a local senior wellness center or applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The comprehensive list of available resources at this year’s expo reflects why Somerset County was the first county in New Jersey to be recognized as a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.
“In Somerset County, the fastest growing segment of our population are residents who are 65 and older,” said Renee Burawski, Executive Director, Office on Aging and Disability Services. “But, in Somerset County, we are prepared for this shift in population. In addition to community services the OoADS provides and contracts for, we have six senior wellness centers, and an array of services, that make aging in place in Somerset County not only possible, but enjoyable. At our upcoming expo, our services for older adults, their caregivers, and individuals with physical disabilities will be on full display. Over 30 vendors will be in attendance, offering information regarding services and community supports. Free health screenings for various health issues will be available, including blood pressure, glaucoma, balance, depression, and anxiety screenings. Stop by the free expo and be reminded, once again, why Somerset County is the best place to live, work, play, and age in place.”
Residents can register for free shuttle services that provide at-home pickup and drop-off directly to the expo. Registration must be submitted by Thursday, April 9, 2026, and can be completed by contacting the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services at (908) 704-6346 or DisabilityServices@somersetcountynj.gov. Free parking for the expo is available at the Red Lot of the TD Bank Ballpark, Bridgewater. A shuttle bus will bring you to the Senior Center and return participants to the parking lot.
