SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — At their April 28 meeting, the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners awarded the Borough of Peapack & Gladstone a $410,000 grant through the Somerset County Trails Grant Program, marking a major investment in local connectivity, recreation, and economic development.
The funding will support construction of a pedestrian bridge over Peapack Brook, creating a seamless link between the Borough’s existing trail network, both train stations, the downtown district, and Natirar Park. Once completed, residents and visitors will be able to walk or bike safely between these key destinations.
County officials noted that the project will strengthen the region’s green infrastructure, improve access to outdoor recreation, and help drive tourism and local business activity. With easier connections to hiking, historic sites, dining, and community amenities—all within walking distance of the Peapack and Gladstone train stations—the trail expansion is expected to boost foot traffic and enhance quality of life for residents.
