Somerset County to Hold Public Hearing on Services for Older Adults June 10
The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services (OoADS), in partnership with its Aging Advisory Council, will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Senior Wellness Center at Bridgewater, located at 876 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ. The hearing will focus on programs and services for adults 60 and older, their caregivers, and residents age 18 and older living with a physical disability.
The hearing provides an opportunity for County residents to comment on community needs, share experiences, and recommend potential solutions related to aging services. This year’s session will highlight services delivered during the first year of a three-year cycle, 2025 to 2027, present findings from the 2026 Needs Assessment, and include updates from contracted service providers.
According to the New Jersey State Health Assessment Data (NJSDHAD) the older adult population is growing rapidly. The proportion of New Jersey's population aged 65 and over increased 33% between 2010 and 2024, with the actual number of residents in that age group rising 43% in the same period. Somerset County mirrors this trend.
“It’s important to hear from the public about what services are most needed and important to adults over 60 and those over 18 with a physical disability”, said Mollie Greene, Somerset County Human Services Director.
The annual public hearing provides information on services funded through Title III of the Older Americans Act, Supplemental Aging Supportive Services, State Safe Housing and Transportation, Adult Protective Services, and other State, County, and local funds. The plan developed by the OoADS identifies trends and conditions affecting the aging population and details goals, strategies, and spending priorities for the three-year cycle.
