Raritan Officers Honored for Their Quick Thinking While Saving a Woman's Life
Sargent Steven Bonczek (not pictured), Officer Kathleen Sausa, and Officer Nicholas DePiano on October 7th were each presented with a Valor Award by the Somerset County 200 Club.
In the winter of February 23rd, 2020, the three officers responded to the Nevius Street Bridge regarding a report of a suicidal female who intended on jumping from the bridge.
Officer Sausa maintained a conversation with the woman while Sgt. Bonczek and Officer DePiano approached her from a different direction. Both were able to grab and pull her back onto the bridge after a brief struggle.
