"According to Emily Post" became the standard of social graces and etiquette long into the 20th century. The woman behind the quote was an affluent American socialite that created an authentic brand before the word "brand" was trendy like it is today.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 27, 1872, Emily Price grew up in an affluent lifestyle that included being educated by governesses and attending private schools in Baltimore and New York.
She spent summer vacations in Tuxedo Park, New York, and Bar Harbor, Maine. She eventually married Edwin Post in a glamourous wedding that led to a lush life as a traveling author/socialite.
Now with the married name of Emily Post, she used her writing talent and became a well-known author of romance novels detailing travel from the socialite's perspective while exploring Europe and America.
In 1922, the Post standard was born when she wrote the best-seller, a nonfiction book called Emily Post's Etiquette. Now six generations later, the Emily Post brand has become a global phenomenon showcasing the art of job, home, and personal etiquette for the 21st century. In 2022 the Emily Post organization is celebrating 100 years. www.emilypost.com.
The Emily Post brand stays relevant by connecting to its audience via social media. You can read their daily Facebook posts on manners, tweet, text, or call them with questions or connect directly with the Post family on LinkedIn.
