Norwescap New Jersey- Resources for the Community
Did you know almost 15% of New Jersey’s children were living below the federal poverty level in 2021, up 2% from 2019 according to a recent report by a nonprofit research group (Advocates for Children of New Jersey). This elevated level of childhood poverty continues today. Early education, can play a crucial role in mitigating the effects of poverty. By providing young children from low-income families with access to early education. Early education programs can provide children with a strong educational foundation, which can improve their academic performance later in life.
This can help break the cycle of poverty by increasing their chances of attaining higher education and better job opportunities. Norwescap is committed to expanding access to high quality early childhood education for children 0 – 6 by using evidence-based educational services like Head Start & Early Head Start. Norwescap is also the Childcare Resource and Referral Agency for the State of NJ in three counti9es. Our goal for 2023 was to serve 1,600 children for that year and we are delighted to say we have served 2,124 children through our educational services.
