Troops 185B and 185G took part in their very first Klondike Derby this past weekend, and they shined through just as expected! Attending Pioneer District’s 2026 Derby held at Watchung Reservation, both troops dedicated time to perfecting their Scouting skills in a friendly Council-Wide Race.
Thirty-one patrols from all across Patriots’ Path Council trekked up to the starting line to compete. The patrols pulled their hand-built sleds through snowy terrain to nine differently-themed stations positioned throughout the reservation. At each station, Scouts tackled challenges testing their skills in areas such as pioneering, first aid, shelter-building, American Sign Language, axe throwing, cooking, and orienteering. The Scouts gave it their all—and it paid off well! Troop 185G earned First Place on their very first council-run Klondike Derby, and overall both Troops scored highly. Looking forward to coming back next year!
We are extremely proud of all our Scouts for their commitment and hard work leading up to and during the competition.
Troop 185 is always on the lookout for new Scouts to join our Troop to experience the outdoors and make new friends. If interested, please contact Info.Troop185Branchburg@twh.email
