ICYMI - Franklin Township Pedestrian Fatality Investigation
FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks announce a pedestrian fatality investigation that occurred on Hamilton Street in the evening hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Franklin Township.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 8:35 p.m. officers from Franklin Township Police Department responded to Hamilton Street near Francis Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers determined that a female pedestrian was crossing Hamilton Street when she was struck by the driver of a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Toyota did not report any injuries. The pedestrian, who was identified as female resident of Franklin Township was pronounced deceased on scene.
Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate along with members of the Franklin Department Traffic Safety Bureau. Investigators from the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the to investigate. The investigation is currently ongoing pending the results of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team’s findings.
