At the February 10 Township Committee meeting, Mayor Catherine Payne presented members of the Hillsborough High School Black Student Union with an official proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month.
The Black Student Union works to educate both students and the broader community about Black history, culture, and heritage. Their efforts help foster understanding, celebrate diversity, and highlight the many stories that shape Hillsborough’s identity.
Black History Month offers an opportunity to honor the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of African Americans to the economic, spiritual, political, and cultural development of our nation and our local community. Hillsborough Township is proud to acknowledge this history and the impact African Americans continue to make in the area.
