Chinese Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival

The Center for Cultural & Creative Exchange (CCCE) presents the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese folk celebration of light from September 14 – 22 at Bridgewater Commons featuring a display of 15 illuminated handmade Chinese lanterns up to 10 feet high throughout the first two levels of the center, lantern making workshops at the Community Hub and a special performance in Center Court.

Festival Details:

Mid-Autumn Chinese Lantern Exhibit

Displayed on the first two levels of Bridgewater Commons, twenty handmade Chinese lanterns up to 10 feet high in various forms from animals to dragons will illuminate the walkways.

Date/Time: September 14 – September 22, On display during open mall hours.

Mid-Autumn Festival Performance

The CCCE opens the Mid-Autumn Festival with a traditional live performance of music and dance.

Date/Time: September 14, 3pm – 4pm

Location: Bridgewater Commons, Center Court

Chinese Lantern Making Workshop

Located in the Community Hub, The CCCE will host a fun lantern making workshop for families. Throughout the ages, the Chinese have used lanterns not only as sources of light or simple paper decoration, but they symbolize vitality, social status and good luck.

Cost: $5 for your lantern kit

Date/Time: September 14, 15 and 22, 12pm – 6pm

Location: Event Space next to Vans on the Main Level

Established in 2019, CCCE is a non-profit organization founded in New Jersey and its mission of CCCE is twofold: to help preserve Chinese culture and heritage and to promote unity, harmony, and respect for all demographic groups within the community. Through sharing East Asian culture and art, CCCE provides several cultural events annually including The Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar Chinese New Year and many more.
