ICYMI: Park Commission Reopens Raritan River Greenway at Duke Island Park

Image

The Somerset County Park Commission is thrilled to announce that the portion of the Raritan River Greenway Trail at Duke Island Park near the Head Gates Dam is reopening after being devastated by Hurricane Ida nearly a full year ago. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the beautiful pathway and scenery, but to keep in mind that this weekend will be very hot and to stay hydrated and safe.

Special thanks to Rep. Tom Malinoski and FEMA for securing the funding to do the repairs, and the Somerset County Engineering Division for overseeing the project.

Duke Island Park
In 1958, The Somerset County Park Commission acquired Duke Island Park’s 343 acres located in Bridgewater Township, which is surrounded by the Raritan Power Canal. The park has a rich natural beauty and provides park visitors with a wide variety of active and passive recreational opportunities and special events.
