ICYMI -200 Young Artists Showed Their Creativity at Bridgewater Commons for the Chalk-a-Con
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (June 24, 2024) — It’s clear that the possibility of record-breaking heat couldn’t stop the creative spirit, as more than 200 budding young artists and parents joined Bridgewater Commons for Chalk-a-Con on June 23 at Commons Park. Guided by renowned 3D street artist Anthony Cappetto, the assembled group used chalk supplied by the center to create one of the most vibrant murals in Central New Jersey.
With help from the shady park, attendees enjoyed face paintings, balloon twists, bubble show, and music while creating their masterpieces. Cappetto, too, joined in the fun, creating his own 20-foot-long 3D artwork at the center.
“It was a steamy but amazing day, thanks to all our young friends, their parents — and very well-timed cloud cover,” said Tom Kovacic, Marketing and Business Development Director at Bridgewater Commons. “It proves that our outdoor public areas are just as important to our community as our amazing indoor retail, dining and entertainment offerings. And I hope we inspired a new generation of artists!”
This special event is the first of a series of new outdoor programming in Commons Park, a public green space located across from Uncle Julio’s and the new Fogo de Chão, filled with lush gardens and tranquil seating, including family, health, and seasonal activations.
Located along Interstate 287 at the intersections of Route 22 and Route 202/206, the 1.2 million-square-foot Bridgewater Commons is Somerset County’s largest shopping, dining, and entertainment destination.
The complex also includes The Village at Bridgewater Commons, a unique, open-air shopping district with more than 10 retailers and food and beverage locations including LOFT, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Shake Shack, and Starbucks.
