BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Community safety is a shared responsibility, and once again Somerset County is taking proactive steps to empower its faith-based and civic leaders. Mark your calendars for September 9th and 10th, as the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Bridgewater Police, JFED Security, Jewish Federation of West-Central NJ, Jersey Tactical, and the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC in Bridgewater, presents a vital Active Shooter Awareness Training.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s event, this two-day training is back by popular demand, bringing together professionals and first responders with one critical goal: prepare religious and community leaders to protect their congregants and members in the event of a crisis.
The sessions will cover:
Active shooter response protocols
Situational awareness and emergency decision-making
Coordination with law enforcement
Real-world scenario planning and de-escalation techniques
“This is not about fear—it’s about preparedness,” says one of the organizers. “We want every community leader to leave this training with actionable knowledge and confidence.”
Who should attend?
Leaders of synagogues, churches, mosques, temples, and other community organizations are especially encouraged to participate. Space is limited, so early registration is strongly advised.
The JCC Bridgewater will once again serve as the host site, continuing its commitment to being a hub for both wellness and safety education in Somerset County.
