Editorial Report: Horse Rescued From Bedminster Pond After Multi-Agency Response

On Monday, the Far Hills–Bedminster Fire Department responded to a call for a horse stuck in a pond in Bedminster. Upon arrival, Chief 29 requested mutual aid from agencies equipped with large-animal and technical rescue capabilities due to the complexity of the situation.

Chief 29 and Assistant Chief 29 coordinated efforts with the horse’s owner, the attending veterinarian, farm personnel, and specialized rescue teams from both Somerset County OEM and Hunterdon County. Together, the teams developed and executed a plan to safely remove the horse from the water.

The rescue involved multiple agencies, including Peapack-Gladstone Fire Department, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, Somerset County EMS (SBES), Readington Rescue 49, Bedminster PBA 366, Bedminster Township DPW, and RWJ EMS. Far Hills–Bedminster Fire Department responded with Engine 29-1, Rescue 29, Truck 29, and a total of 15 members on scene.

The horse was successfully extricated from the pond. No additional injuries or safety concerns were reported at the time of the incident.
