BRIDGEWATER – Marty Faulborn, owner of Gladstone Masonry and Stoneworks in Gladstone, has been selected as the Somerset County Vocational & Technical School District’s 2025 Business Partner of the Year. Mr. Faulborn was chosen in recognition of his involvement with and dedication to the students and programs at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS).
While SCVTHS does not have a formal masonry program, it does incorporate the methods and skills required for success in the industry into its Carpentry program. Mr. Faulborn has been a valued partner in this effort, serving on Advisory Boards and volunteering his time and knowledge to staff and students since 2015. He regularly conducts tutorials on different aspects of masonry, enabling students to learn a particular skill or technique that will add to their future employability.
In addition to time spent in the classroom, Mr. Faulborn has also helped to train students who compete through SkillsUSA, a national workforce development organization. When one of the students he advised qualified for the SkillsUSA National Championships, Mr. Faulborn flew to Atlanta at his own expense to provide encouragement and support. “Marty has spent countless hours helping prepare our students for their SkillsUSA competitions,” said Robert Carrig, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education at SCVTHS. “His dedication to assisting our students in their technical training is unparalleled.”
Gerald Mazzetta, SCVTHS CTE Cooperative Education Coordinator, echoed Mr. Carrig, adding, “Marty serves as an outstanding role model and mentor to our students. He not only dedicates his time by training our students, he also donates materials to assist in this training as well.”
Mr. Faulborn’s commitment to students does not stop when they graduate. Over the many years he has been associated with SCVTHS, he has provided insights and advice that have helped numerous students to make progress towards their career goals. Mr. Faulborn has also employed students and graduates at his company, where they are able to put the skills learned at SCVTHS into practice while continuing to grow in their professional knowledge and experience under his guidance.
For his contributions to the school community, Somerset County Vocational & Technical School District is proud to honor Marty Faulborn, owner of Gladstone Masonry and Stoneworks as the 2025 Business Partner of the Year.
