Somerset County Crimes: November 2025 — December Update
Somerset County SWAT Team — Somerville SWAT raid yields a woman’s death -On November 16, police responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on Mastogen Drive, Somerville. When SWAT entered the home, they found an adult woman deceased (in advanced decomposition) and a 66-year-old man inside. The man was arrested on firearm charges after officers recovered four handguns from the scene. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office — Hillsborough shooting triggers school lockdowns -
On November 19, a shooting near the shopping center area of Route 206 in Hillsborough (Hillsborough Centre) prompted police to lock down five local schools. A 19-year-old suspect, charged with first-degree attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, and related weapons offenses, surrendered to authorities several hours later. No one was killed.
Cyber-harassment case involving a teacher — Bridgewater-Raritan school district
On November 14, a special-services teacher from the district was charged with stalking and cyber-harassing a teenage victim in a sex-crime case involving a coach. Authorities say the teacher sent anonymous obscene letters and social-media messages aiming to discredit the victim.
Broader Context & Earlier 2025 Case Review -In a 2025 case from September, police responding to a welfare check in a home on Cornell Trail, Hillsborough, discovered two homicide victims and shot a knife-wielding suspect — the matter continues under investigation by state authorities.
