Somerset County marked an important moment this week as several re‑elected leaders took their oaths of office at the County’s Historic Courthouse on January 9, 2026. Commissioners Melonie Marano and Elizabeth Graner, along with Constitutional Officers Sheriff Darrin J. Russo and Surrogate Bernice “Tina” Jalloh, Esq., were formally sworn in by Governor Phil Murphy.
The ceremony also included the appointment of the County’s leadership team for the year ahead. Commissioner Shanel Y. Robinson was sworn in as Commissioner Director for 2026, Commissioner Paul M. Drake assumed the role of Commissioner Deputy Director, and Commissioner Elizabeth Graner was sworn in as Commissioner Acting Director.
These appointments set the stage for Somerset County’s work in the coming year, reflecting both continuity and renewed commitment within county leadership.
