Somerset County Commissioner Sara Sooy has been elected as the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA)'s Secretary for the 2026-2027 term. The NJTPA oversees regional transportation planning and partners with local and state agencies to help fund more than $3 billion in transportation investments annually for 13 counties in northern and central New Jersey.
“I’m honored to take on this leadership role and continue working with my colleagues to advance transportation priorities that improve quality of life across our region,” said Commissioner Sooy.
“The NJTPA’s work touches every community in our region, from safety improvements on local streets to major infrastructure investments, and I look forward to supporting the Board as we move these initiatives forward.”
