On April 3, 2026, the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners joined the community at the Somerset Patriots ballpark to celebrate the team’s Opening Day—this time wearing special‑edition 250th anniversary team gear.

In honor of America’s 250th, the Somerset Patriots will take the field as the Somerset Semiquincentennials for four games this season: July 3, July 4, July 5, and August 15, 2026.

Commissioner Director Shanel Y. Robinson reflected on the meaning of this milestone year and the joy of celebrating it through America’s favorite pastime.

“This year is an important year for America—we are celebrating 250 years of being a democratic society. It seems only fitting that as we reflect upon our collective history and explore our local historical haunts, that we also revel in America’s National Pastime. I am so excited to be celebrating Fourth of July weekend with the Somerset Semiquincentennials. I can’t wait to put on that special edition jersey, buy myself and my grandchildren a hot dog, and watch a baseball game at our beautiful Patriots Stadium.”

The partnership between Somerset County and the Somerset Patriots is designed not only to honor the nation’s 250th anniversary, but also to spotlight the county’s pivotal role in the American Revolution and the many historic sites that make Somerset a place #WhereHistoryComesAlive.

Throughout 2026, Somerset County will continue celebrating its rich Revolutionary War heritage with events, programs, and community partnerships that connect residents and visitors to the stories that shaped our nation.
