BOUND BROOK, NJ — Internationally acclaimed vocalist Terry Barber, a New Jersey resident for the past five years and a former member of the multiple Grammy Award–winning group Chanticleer, is bringing his most requested tour to the historic Brook Arts Center on May 15 at 8 PM.
Barber’s celebrated project, Mercury, features the best‑selling music of Queen, performed live with his touring band from Phoenix, New York City, and Chicago. The show has traveled across the U.S. and Canada, and his recording of this material was considered for eight Grammy nominations.
This spring performance arrives just as Barber signs a major new agreement: his latest project, “3 Tenors of the Americas,” will headline at the FIFA World Cup Festival in Mexico City this July.
At The Brook, audiences can expect not only the iconic hits of Queen, but also a deeper look into the life of Freddie Mercury. Barber weaves stories, personal reflections, and Mercury’s own words throughout the performance.
“I’m not impersonating this iconic artist who taught a generation how to rock,” Barber explains. “But I believe my audience leaves with a better sense of the man — his triumphs and his tragedies. Like Mercury, my goal is to entertain. He cared deeply about the audience having a great time, and this show is a party for all who attend. In short, We Will Rock You.”
Barber has performed as a soloist at world‑renowned venues including the Metropolitan Opera and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall, and has recorded alongside artists such as Madonna, Jewel, Chaka Khan, Cyndi Lauper, and the London Philharmonic.
His upcoming Bound Brook performance also supports the ongoing restoration efforts at The Brook, led by Gail Woerner and Andrew Golden, who are working to return the theater to its historic glory.
