The Annual Barbells for Boobs Fundraiser Lifted Spirits for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the CrossFit ToyBox community came together to raise funds for breast cancer research. Over twenty members, dressed in pink, participated in a fun-filled and good-natured fitness competition.

Barbell for Boobs came into existence in 2009 after its founder, Zionna Hanson, found out her best friend Cece was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 26.

She was not sure what she would do, so she decided to try and lift a barbell. In Southern California, 60 friends and athletes showed their support in a parking lot by coming together and raising over 4000 dollars which fueled the foundation of Barbells for Boobs.

CrossFit ToyBox is proud of the community they have built and commends their athletes for supporting breast cancer research! To date, the CFTB athletes have raised $703 for breast cancer research with additional funds still accruing as companies and corporations match funds raised.

The athletes completed a favorite CrossFit workout called Grace.

Grace is a fitness session consisting of 30 clean and jerks for time. Athletes completed the fitness session while fellow athletes were counting the reps while cheering them on.

After the workout, members stayed for bagels and mimosa brunch.

Donated were pink chocolate ribbons by a member and fellow Raritan business owner, Barry Krinsky of Candyland Crafts.  https://www.candylandcrafts.com/
