Jury Convicts Franklin Township Man of Aggravated Assault

Somerville, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather announced that on May 10, 2024, a Somerset County Jury convicted defendant Yahmir Brown, age 19, Somerset, N.J., of second-degree aggravated assault. On November 23, 2022, defendant Brown was charged, along with a juvenile co-defendant, for assaulting the employee of a local business located on Hamilton Street, Franklin Township, N.J. 

The victim sustained multiple facial fractures because of the incident, which was the subject of a joint investigation by Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Detective William Perez and Franklin Township Police Department Detectives Emma Bascom and Robert Brown. During the trial, the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Rory A. Eaton, with the assistance of Litigation Paralegal Maria Ducca. 

Defendant Brown faces a mandatory prison sentence, 85% of which is to be served without parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act.
