Somerville - PSE&G gas main construction on Division Street and Main Street

Beginning in January, PSE&G will continue working on the gas main construction project, on Division Street and West Main Street. On Division Street, PSE&G will replace 435 feet of gas main and 15 gas service connections. On West Main Street, PSE&G will replace approximately 1,450 feet of gas main and about 45 gas service connections between Maple Street and North Doughty Avenue.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved construction from January through March. PSE&G expects all work to be completed by May 2026.

Downtown Somerville will remain open during construction, with parking available in municipal lots.

Detour and traffic information

• Work on West Main Street will occur primarily overnight, from 8 pm to 5 am.
• West Main Street will be closed between North Bridge Street and Doughty Avenue during overnight work hours
• Traffic will be detoured via Veterans Memorial Drive and West High Street.
• Please follow all posted No Parking signs.
