Somerville Historic Advisory Committee Looking for Family Stories and Traditions

If you live in Somerville and have an ancestor connected with the American Revolution, Somerville HAC would like to hear from you.

We are looking for stories about ordinary people who were involved in those life-changing times that are part of your family history and traditions.

It needn’t be a direct ancestor but someone whose experience your family knows about and that you are willing to share.

Your ancestor doesn’t have to have a been a soldier or served in the militia, only that a memory of that time down has passed down through your family.

For example, Paul Robeson once shared that his mother’s ancestor was a baker in Philadelphia that supplied bread to the Continental Army.

Your ancestor may have witnessed a battle, had their home destroyed by one of the armies, or had it used as hospitals. We want to hear about all these traditions and what you may have been able to document, or not.
