Hillsborough Celebrates the Homecoming of International Athlete Ania Lopez‑Acuña

Hillsborough Township Public Schools is celebrating an extraordinary milestone as we welcome home one of our own, Ania Lopez‑Acuña, following her remarkable experience on the international stage. 

Ania recently returned from competing as a Goalkeeper for the Mexican U17 Women’s National Team, an achievement that places her among the most elite young athletes in the world.  

Earning a position on a national roster is one of the highest honors in sports. 

For our district, seeing a student‑athlete rise from Hillsborough’s fields to represent a country on the global level is both inspiring and deeply meaningful. As a goalkeeper—a role that demands leadership, composure, and exceptional skill—Ania proved she can stand strong against top international competition.

Her journey is a powerful reminder of what dedication, resilience, and passion can make possible. Ania represents not only her team and her heritage, but also the spirit of our community and the dreams of every young athlete who dares to aim high.
