State House News NJ - Summit on Homelessness * Virtual Workshop on TTF *
Ms. Universe 2021-2022, Nikki Johnson-Alfano, as the keynote luncheon speaker for our “Summit on Homelessness” set for Friday December 15th at the Historic Trenton Country Club. Born into poverty, Mrs. Johnson-Alfano was homeless at the age of 9 and after initially failing out of college, she ultimately graduated from that same university in 1998 while working full-time during the day. She later went on to graduate from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law and is currently the founder of her own law practice in Philadelphia focusing on tax disputes for businesses and individuals. In addition to hearing about Mrs. Johnson-Huston’s remarkable journey, we’ve put together two outstanding panel discussions featuring subject matter experts from across the State with additional details to follow shortly. Registration for this event is free for all public officials, but space is limited, so please make sure to visit our website at https://njac.org for additional details.
The Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) is set to expire in June of 2024, don’t miss NJAC’s virtual workshop on the “Reauthorization of the TTF” set for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday 11/1. In summary, this workshop will examine the need to reauthorize the TTF as a stable, dependable, and long-term source of constitutionally dedicated funding necessary to ensure a safe and reliable network of roads and bridges. As a vital component of the TTF, the workshop will also address Local Aide Allocations, which provide critical property tax relief, promote economic growth and development, and protect the public on local roads and bridges that carry approximately 55% of the State’s overall traffic. As is the case with our Summit, this workshop is free for public officials, but you must register by visiting our website, completing the registration form, and returning it by October 31st to knolan@njac.org, who will then send you details on how to access the session.
