Students from Raritan Valley Community College’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) have partnered with the Reading-Fleming Intermediate School in Flemington to support teachers Lisa Coster and Daniel Decanio in starting a STEM Club at the Intermediate School.

Launched in April, the project involved sharing the expertise of the SWE members, who helped the Intermediate School STEM Club thrive, offering enriching educational opportunities to a diverse body of students.

The RVCC students assisted the youngsters by explaining concepts related to a variety of topics and projects, including wind energy and turbines, electric current and circuitry, machines (such as an elevator and catapult), and a take-home garden.

The culmination of the collaboration was marked on June 12 at the school’s Parents’ Night, with Reading-Fleming students showcasing their projects and the SWE members supporting the students and the event.

The exhibition was very well received, and the SWE Club and the Reading-Fleming Intermediate School STEM Club are planning to continue the partnership in the next academic year.

The RVCC SWE Team includes: Melissa Armenta Quiroz (Flemington); Jenica Betron (Raritan); Marlen Chanez (Somerset); Tanaya Dhumale (Bridgewater); Annabelle Ku (Warren); Daphne Kunukcu (North Plainfield); Zaineb Lawal (Somerset); Nirvani Mangru (Washington); Nailha Minggia (Hillsborough); Te’ Anna Neptune (Green Brook); Hariette Pierre (Far Hills); Juvina Thaker (Bridgewater); and Jyana Thompson (Newark).

RVCC is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, NJ. For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu.
